Many people are under the misguided belief that winning at poker is something that either calls for a huge amount of skill, or an even greater amount of luck! To some degree this belief is of course true in a sense, nevertheless it is really down to what is considered as being ’successful’. If for you being successful at playing poker means that you accumulate a million dollar bankroll, then that opinion would be one hundred percent true. For the majority of individuals, this level of success is just completely unrealistic and you might be every bit as well off simply buying a handful of lottery tickets.
As luck would have it, succeeding at poker doesn’t mean pulling in a million dollars. The way we define success at poker is proportional to the targets we set ourselves just like anything in life. If you arrive at a game with $20, and you set yourself a fairly modest goal of doubling your stake up to $40 without adding more money to your kitty and you actually manage to do it, then you are a success. It isn’t important what your goals really, just as long as they’re achievable.
You don’t need any natural skill, or “luck” all the skills you need can be learned.
